J. Scott Coopwood, Owner

Mr. Coopwood was born and raised in the Mississippi Delta. After graduating from Ole Miss with a B.A. in English in 1984, Mr. Coopwood moved to Jackson, MS where he started a record company, N-Beat Records. 

In 1989, Mr. Coopwood started a business publication, Jackson Business Journal, in Jackson, MS, and was the publisher of the business magazine, Forward Mississippi. Selling these in 1996, he launched the Delta Business Journal based in Cleveland, MS, which enjoys a monthly readership of 25,000. In 2003, Mr. Coopwood started Delta Magazine, Mississippi’s premier lifestyle publication that enjoys a readership of some 40,000. In 2009, Mr. Coopwood started two Sunday morning newspapers: The Cleveland Current in Cleveland, MS, and The Oxford Enterprise in Oxford, MS. 

Along the way in his career, Mr. Coopwood has provided his consulting services to several political campaigns and served as press secretary for one congressional campaign.

Mr. Coopwood’s salesmanship and entrepreneurial abilities are of great value to clients. His ability to frame client objectives in the proper creative perspective and to provide strategy is one of the agency’s strong suits.

Mr. Coopwood serves on several regional and statewide corporate and governmental boards.



Joe Meek, Chief Executive Officer

A graduate from Ole Miss, Mr. Meek joined Coopwood communications in 2004. Mr. Meek worked in film production for Warner Brothers and Sony/TriStar Pictures in Los Angles, CA; Queenstown, New Zealand; and Mumbai, India. He also worked in TV, film, and magazine production in Milan, Italy and Capetown, South Africa in the two years prior to joining CCI.

His production experience in mixed media and diverse cultures was a perfect fit for Coopwood Communications' television, radio, and print campaigns. Mr. Meek has directed over 50 television commercials and promotional videos since 2004. Mr. Meek is also lead account manager for over twenty accounts throughout the region. His role includes account supervision, creative direction, production management and client relations.

Notable regional clients include Health Management Associates, HOPE Community Credit Union (AR, LA, MS, TN), Oncbiomune (LA), and the University of Mississippi Medical Center's Face & Skin Center. Mr. Meek also represents several Convention & Visitors Bureaus in the Mississippi Delta in addition to many privately held companies throughout the state.



Betsy Tabor, Media Director

Ms Tabor has worked in media direction for 25 years. Her extensive experience in strategy, planning and execution is invaluable for our clients.  Not only does she ensure the message is received, she does so as efficiently as possible.

Her account experience includes HMA Corporation, River Oaks Hospital, Viking Range, Ms Department of Economic Development, McDonald’s Corporation of Mid-Mississipi, Union Planters, Planters Bank.
